Belgrade– Rasho Nesterovic; former NBA and EuroLeague champion talks to Eurohoops about the Basketball Without Borders event that reconnects familiar former athletes back together, the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs as well as European basketball in the world’s biggest stage, the NBA.

Nesterovic was asked about the Basketball Without Borders event in Belgrade and the reunion he had with former teammates and coaches: “It’s like a family reunion. A lot of faces that you have been seeing for a lot of years, but have not seen for the last years it’s always good to come back and work with these people.”

Besides, the former NBAer talked about two teams he played for, the Toronto Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs: “I think the Spurs are going to rebuild with younger players. They will need some time, but I will not count them off. When the regular season finishes they could be contenders. As for the Raptors, they are one of the best teams in the East, and I think they will continue this way.”

Nesterovic also praised European basketball, stating that the European players have proved that they can even become MVP’s of the NBA: “It all started with Vlade (Divac), Drazen (Petrovic), Arvydas (Sabonis), Dino (Radja) and Toni (Kukoc) as they were the first guys that made the switch and moved to the NBA and now there are more Europeans in the NBA every single year. I think Europeans prove they can play on the highest level and become MVP’s of the league.”

Finally, he also talked about Luka Doncic: “In his first year he will figure out how things work. Then we can expect the real Luka in the next couple of years.”
