Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young expressed his belief that he’ll become a better player than Dallas Mavericks point forward and fellow rookie Luka Doncic.

The trade between Hawks and the Mavericks that led Doncic and Young to Dallas and Atlanta respectively, was one of the main storylines that began during the Draft night and still continues as the rookie season of the two players progresses. Young praised Doncic for his game and his character but said that it’s he that will be considered the better of the two in the future.

Per Sports Illustrated:

“The thing with Luka,” Young says, “he’s a great player. I don’t understand why it can’t work out for both situations. I hear [Atlanta made a mistake] all the time. Luka’s a great dude, and I think he’s going to be a really good player. But at the same time, I’m going to be a better player. Just because of my ability to stretch the floor, get others involved, I think I’ll be better.”
