The new-look Minnesota Timberwolves got a home win over the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday night. Dario Saric was among Tom Thibodeau’s new players, but didn’t start the match. Coming from the bench, the Croatian forward had nine points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist in 20 minutes.

Saric now has to prove he deserves a spot in the starting five of his new team. It remains to be seen if he will replace Taj Gibson in one of the Timberwolves next games. On the other hand, he might stick to this bench role depending on his performances and Thibodeau’s preferences.

On the Pelicans side, Nikola Mirotic returned to action with 16 points and ten rebounds, but tweaked his right ankle towards the end of the game. It is the same ankle that cost him the two previous games. He is expected to have on MRI on Thursday.
