The Knicks made the decision to change the face of their franchise though according to the directive, it was a result of Kristaps Porzingis’ wish to leave the team.
“I feel we did the right thing,” Knicks President Steve Millis. “When you try to think about how you want to form your team in the long term, you do not want to compromise with a maximum [contract] of a player who clearly tells you he does not want to be here.”
However, after confirming the transfer, Porzingis himself posted an ambiguous message on his Instagram stories, probably responding to Mills’ words. The message read: “The truth will come out.”
