Nikola Jokic only scored 11 points on Thursday, but poured two of them when it mattered most for the Denver Nuggets. Luka Doncic had just put the Dallas Mavericks in front with an impressive jam, but the 24-year-old Serb forward/center answered in a big way sinking a tough buzzer beater. The hosts improved to 45-22 and got one win behind the Western Conference leaders, Golden State Warriors.

Dwight Powell’s effective defense wasn’t enough to stop the Joker from making his first game-winner in the NBA. “I felt like he was going to block it, so I just go to the right hand and throw it somehow. And the ball went in. Powell played really good defense. He was right there but I made a lucky shot” he pointed out after the NBA 2018-19 Regular Season game.

Jokic’s off-balance effort allowed him to end up with 4/7 inside the rainbow and 4/9 from the field in general. He also took down 14 rebounds in 30 minutes for 45th double-double of the season, but fell two assists short from a triple-double.
