The NBPA (National Basketball Players Association) expressed its support for Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis during the investigation for rape allegations made against the player.

“We have been aware of these allegations for some time, have evaluated the accuser’s claims and, based on what is presently before us, stand with Kristaps,” NBPA executive director Michele Roberts stated, per ESPN’s Ian Begley.

On Saturday (30/3), a report by New York Post mentioned that there is an ongoing investigation by NYPD on Porzingis after a woman accused the player of raping her at his penthouse apartment in New York on February 7, 2018. The Latvian player had suffered a torn ACL that day in a game vs. Milwaukee Bucks.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Mavericks were informed of the allegations when the trade with the Knicks took place. The league office also had knowledge of the case.
