Igor Kokoskov is set to become an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Serbian coach had been a free agent after being fired by the Phoenix Suns in April.

The Suns had appointed Kokoskov as head coach on May 2018, making him the first ever European-born head coach in NBA. His debut season with Phoenix finished with a 19 – 63 record.

Kokoskov had been an assistant coach on various NBA teams, most recently with the Utah Jazz from 2015-2018. In 2017, he served as head coach of the Slovenian national team in the EuroBasket, leading them to the first-ever gold medal title in the country’s history.
