The New York Knicks have not yet picked up Frank Ntilikina’s fourth-year contract option adding uncertainty on the 21-year-old’s future, Steve Popper of Newsday reports. The NBA organization has until October 31st to extend the youngster’s contract up to the end of the 2020-21 season, but the opposite route seems still in play.

“Very happy to see how he performed over in the World Cup,” mentioned GM Scott Perry, “Watched a number of his games very close. Think you can see him gaining confidence, which is a very important thing. You hope that carries over in here at the start of training camp. He’s gotten a little bigger and stronger.”

“We have until October 31 to do that and we won’t discuss any contract things in detail,” he added avoiding any concrete statement on the player’s $6.1 million option, “So that’s all I’m going to tell you right now.”

Ntilikina competed in 121 games with the Knicks the past couple of seasons averaging 5.9 points, 3.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 21.6 minutes per appearance. In the 2019 FIBA World Cup at China put up 8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1 steal per game for France.
