The Boston Celtics and the Memphis Grizzlies secured the win in their 2019 NBA preseason opener.

Enes Kanter debuted with the Boston Celtics on Sunday evening at the TD Garden. He helped his side achieve a slim 107-106 win against the Charlotte Hornets with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 block. American-Montenegrin Javonte Green put up 15 points, Vincent Poirier registered 1 rebound and 1 steal in 6 minutes, and Daniel Theis was sidelined with an adductor strain.

New faces for the winning side included Kemba Walker who finished with 12 points, while Gordon Hayward exited early with a bruised left elbow after pouring 9 points. As for the losing side, Europeans Nicolas Batum and Willy Hernangomez notched 2 points each, the French swingman also tallied 6 rebounds, 1 assists and 1 block, the Spaniard center 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 block.

The Memphis Grizzlies tipped off their preseason with a comfortable 123-88 victory over Maccabi Hunter Haifa at the FedExForum. New addition Marko Guduric played 20 minutes for 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists, while Jonas Valanciunas was held out due to foot injury. James Young, 17th pick in the 2014 draft, hit a game-high 31 points for the Israeli club.

Ivica Zubac was in action at Honolulu for the Los Angeles Clippers that went over the Shanghai Sharks, 127-87. The 22-year-old Croatian center had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist before fouling out. James Nunnally scored 31 points and Donatas Motiejunas posted a 29-point, 13-rebound double-double for the CBA side.
