The Portland Trail Blazers will host the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday to open their 2019-20 NBA Regular Season without Pau Gasol. The 39-year-old Spaniard center initially hoped to be ready for the first game of the new season, but now confessed that he will not be available.

Jusuf Nurkic is expected to be out for a few more months recovering from his left leg injury. Fellow European big, Gasol, is out with a left foot injury since last March, a week after joining the Milwaukee Bucks. He signed with the Blazers, but will miss their opener.

The situation would be even worst for Terry Stotts if Hassan Whiteside’s left ankle sprain kept in out of action as well. However, the 30-year-old American center said he will be ready for the Nuggets and Nikola Jokic on Wednesday night at the Moda Center.
