Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antekounmpo was asked about his thoughts on players taking nights off during the NBA season, especially in big games, saying that he wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen to him.

“I’m not trying to be disrespectful towards anyone or hurt anybody’s feelings. Ι played with Kawhi. I know he’s a really tough competitor. I know he definitely wants to play the game. I don’t know who tells him not to play or tells him to take a break,” Giannis said to ESPN.

Most recently, L.A. Clippers decided to sit out reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard during the games vs. the Utah Jazz and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Clippers lost in these two games which were both broadcasted by national television.

“Obviously, there is going to time to take breaks,” Antetokounmpo added. “I think the NBA gives you 21 or 22 days off throughout the season. That’s a great time to take a break. Usually in games like this. what I feel is that I want to go out there and try to do whatever it takes to help my team win. Coach Bud knows that and he would never come to me and tell “Look Giannis you got to take a break in a game like this. I would not allow that to happen.”

“In the end, every organization works in a different way. You just got to respect that,” Giannis concluded.
