After the Portland Blazers NBA Regular Season loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center on Thursday night, Mario Hezonja talked to Eurohoops about his new team and EuroLeague. His tough night held him to two points in the form of a spectacular dunk, afterwards said he enjoys playing in Portland, touched on FC Barcelona and Panathinaikos OPAP as well.

“They invested money into the team and they look great” the Croatian forward noted on his only EuroLeague team, Barca, “It was very rough for them the past years. I’m glad to see them invest deep into the roster and have a championship mentality team.”

“I think he made a great decision for him and his family” he replied to a question on Nikola Mirotic leaving the NBA and joining Barca, “He’s a great player, all about basketball and his family. It was a great move for him and I am happy for him.”

Panathinaikos is like family to me” mentioned Hezonja referring to his relationship with the Greens, “Hundreds of fans text me daily and I love talking to them. I also have Giannakopoulos on Instagram as well.”

“I am not aware of any offer on the table” he admitted when asked if he was approached by Panathinaikos during his free agency last summer. Hezonja eventually inked a two-year, $3.7 million dollars with the Blazers.

“Definitely a different vibe than the previous destination I was” he said on his new side in comparison with his previous team, the New York Knicks, “Winning matters here. The guys are all winners and we are playing the right basketball.”
