As the ‘trading season’ blooms and various rumors circle around, the Washington Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard made one thing clear. They want to keep Davis Bertans.
“We have every intention of retaining him. He’s the exact type of player we want to have in our organization. I think he wants to be here. The business will take care of itself,” Sheppard said on the Wizards “Off the Bench” podcast and ‘doubled it up’.
“There’s so much chit-chat in this league that gets out there. Most of it is contrived by the teams that would love to have Davis. Well, guess what? One of the teams that would love to have him, has him. We intend to keep him. We’re excited about his growth.”
He also praised Bertans for having an exciting sharpshooting playstyle: “Those are the quality vets that really want to have around here and Davis is an exciting player. I think people start catching their breath half-court because it’s open, the store is always open for him and the green light is dark green”, he noted.
