NBA legend Jerry West believes that Luka Doncic will become an even better player than Dirk Nowitzki ever was. “The Logo” also mentioned that Doncic is a defining superstar in the NBA and that he should’ve been the no. 1 pick in the 2018 Draft.

Per the Dallas Morning News:

My goodness, yes,” West says, laughing. “Everyone wishes they had a 20-year-old who plays like him, and he hasn’t even scratched the surface. It’s fun to watch genius.”

Genius?

“I’ve been around a long time,” he says, “and I’ve seen a lot of special players. How many superstars are there in the league at any given time? Maybe five or six. There’s a difference between All-Stars and superstars. A superstar is different, and that’s what he is.”

He’s so good, he should have been the first pick of the draft, West says.

“Look at Dallas,” he says. “One player has transformed them into a playoff team. He will be the best player Dallas has ever had. I have great respect for Nowitzki, but Dirk is not him.”

At 20 years of age and in a couple of months in his sophomore season in the NBA, Doncic is considered one of the frontrunners to win MVP. The Slovenian player recently notched his 11th triple-double this season by scoring 38 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists in a win over the Chicago Bulls.

So far this season, Doncic has been averaging 29.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. Dallas is 23-13 and sixth in the Western Conference.
