Amid coronavirus pandemic, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will discuss the future of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics through a teleconference this Tuesday, as reported by Sports Illustrated.

The teleconference will focus on the concerns about whether the Tokyo 2020 Olympics can begin on time with the Opening Ceremony scheduled for July 24.  As reported, Japanese officials have proclaimed that the Games will not be affected by the measures taken to control the pandemic, but at this point, it seems unrealistic given that the virus continues spreading worldwide.

The IOC’s objective remains for the Games to take place as normal, ruling out the option to hold activities behind closed doors, as further reported by The Guardian. However, many questions are coming into sight given that the NBA also looks to exceed its season deep into the summer months.
