Rick Pitino is currently back in the US and cleared out things about coaching the Greek NT in the upcoming FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Rio’s 2021 Olympics, stating that he would like to lead the team to the Olympic Games.

“What I would like would be to coach the Greek national team. And I will,” said Pitino in a recent interview with OPEN TV, airing Sunday (17/5).

Pitino also talked about Panathinaikos and his feelings about the team in his second stint, a couple of months after his departure. “I didn’t want to coach Panathinaikos the second time. It wasn’t my kind of team”, he said.

The former Panathinaikos coach also shared his thoughts about Michael Jordan, in the wake of ‘The Last Dance’ documentary, and clearly picked him as the GOAT.

“Everyone has passions and complexes. Jordan has that of competitiveness. I happen to know him very well. He’s a great guy with passion but remember, if you play a game of chess with Jordan, and he’s not good at chess, you will beat him. But then, he will go out and find someone who is good at chess, then challenge you again and overthrow you”, Pitino commented.

“For me, Jordan is the number one, and LeBron the number one-A. He doesn’t have Jordan’s ability in scoring. When a game would be decided by small details, Jordan could beat any opponent on his own.”
