Mike Tobey is set to obtain the Slovenian passport and compete in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament at Kaunas, as reported by our own Chema De Lucas.

Tobey, 26, is coming off his second Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign attached to Valencia. He wrapped up the 2020-21 season displaying an effort of 9.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per appearance. In addition, he averaged 9.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per ACB contest.

The former Virginia standout returned to Valencia in 2018 following his brief stint ending his 2016-17 season. He turned to Tenerife for the 2017-18 season. Prior to his move to Spain and Europe, he made a couple of NBA appearances with the Charlotte Hornets during the 2016-17 season.

Slovenia powered by NBA superstar Luka Doncic will attempt to secure an Olympic Games berth at Kaunas between June 29 and July 4. Host Lithuania, Angola, Poland, South Korea, and Venezuela stand in their way.

Spanish news agency EFE first reported Tobey gearing up for international action with Slovenia.
