Turkey suffers a blow just before its trip to Canada.

Shane Larkin won’t play in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament of Canada due to a recurrent herniated disc, the Turkish Basketball Federation announced. Larkin was named among the 14 players of that were planned to travel to Victoria for the tournament earlier today (23/6).

Larkin suffered the injury on his in Game 3 of the Turkish League Finals between his Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce Beko and problems on his lower back were aggravated in national team training camp. After his last MRI, the Federation officials decided to cut him from the roster.

Turkey will thus travel to Victoria minus one of its star players. Larkin averaged 15.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.3 in the 2020-21 EuroLeague and was one of the protagonists in Efes winning the championship.
