Two NBA players, Domantas Sabonis and Jonas Valanciunas headline the selections for Lithuania in a bid to qualify for the Olympic Games

The Lithuanian Basketball Federation confirmed call-ups for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Puerto Rico.

The preliminary squad was released on Friday.

Headlining the list, Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings and Jonas Valanciunas of New Orleans Pelicans are set to join head coach Kazys Maksvytis and their international teammates in the main stage of the training camp, heading to a six-team tournament opposite Bahrain, Cote d’Ivoire, Italy, Mexico, and Puerto Rico for one ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris.

Laurynas Birutis (Zalgiris), Arnas Butkevicius (Zalgiris), Tomas Dimsa (Zalgiris), Rokas Giedraitis (Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet), Marius Grigonis (Panathinaikos Aktor), Rokas Jokubaitis (FC Barcelona), Mindaugas Kuzminskas (AEK Betsson), Lukas Lekavicius (Zalgiris), Donatas Motiejunas (AS Monaco), Tadas Sedekerskis (Baskonia), Deividas Sirvydis (7bet-Lietkabelis), and Edgaras Ulanovas (Zalgiris) were the remaining players on the list.

Martynas Arlauskas (Pieno Zvaigzdes), Laurynas Beliauskas (BM Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski), Eimantas Bendzius (Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari), Marek Blazevic (Monbus Obradoiro), Paulius Danusevicius (Siauliai), Lukas Kreismontas (CBet), Liutauras Lelevicius (7bet-Lietkabelis), Augustas Marciulionis (Saint Mary’s), Rytis Petraitis (California), Dovydas Romancenko (Siauliai), Ignas Sargiunas (Neptunas), Azuolas Tubelis (Neptunas), Einaras Tubutis (M Basket-Delamode), Marius Valinskas (Uniclub Casino – Juventus), and Arnas Velicka (Rytas) were selected to participate in the initial camp.

Following prep games between June 10 and 25, Lithuania will travel to San Juan and battle for a berth in the Olympic Games between July 2 and 7. The FIBA OQT winner will join Serbia, South Sudan, and the United States in Group C of the preliminary round of the Olympic Tournament.
