Announcing the selections of head coach Sergio Scariolo for the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday, the Spanish Basketball Federation, FEB, revealed one adjustment compared to the 12-player roster for the recent FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Valencia. Alex Abrines replaced Juan Nunez.

Abrines, 30, was originally removed due to injury. Since La Familia clinched a berth in the Olympic Games, he was medically cleared to return to action, heading to Group A of the preliminary round. Spain will face Australia, Canada, and Greece in a round-robin schedule between July 27 and August 2 in Lille.

Nunez, 20, was cut but remains with the senior national team of his country along with Joel Parra to assist for the remainder of the training camp.

Final roster for Spain

In a tuneup game on July 23, Spain will face Puerto Rico in Madrid’s WiZink Center.

The opener of Group A against Australia is scheduled four days later, before clashes with Greece on July 30 and Canada on August 2. The top two teams will progress to the Quarterfinals. The two best-ranked third-placed national teams of the three preliminary groups will also qualify for the knockout stage to be played in Paris’ Accor Arena.
