For two season Jeremy Pargo tried to find the best possible situation for him in the NBA, but things didn’t turned out the way he wanted. However, his other option was a “royal” contract with CSKA Moscow and a return to Europe.
We had a talk with him and his answers were short and straight! He didn’t have the ball in his hands in the Sixers, CSKA was the better choice and while Lebron is the best player in the NBA, he considers himself the best player in Europe!
– What made you sign with CSKA Moscow and letting go the prospect of a good career in the NBA?
“It was the right opportunity, and the right moment to sign with a team rich in history”.
– You signed with the Sixers, but you didn’t got a chance to be a big part of the team. Which were the main reasons for that?
“Ball didn’t bounce my way. I am with Cska now. This is my focus, the rest is in the past and I am not worried about it”.
– Before you decide to play in CSKA which teams had contacts with you? During the winter before signing with the Sixers, but also the spring before signing to CSKA?
“Maccabi Tel Aviv. Also, a team in China. CSKA was difficult to pass on the opportunity with the team. I am comfortable with the organization, and I am happy with my decision”.
– Did you consider at some point that you would return to Maccabi;
“I did. A lot of talk, but at the end of the day it was the right choice. I’m looking forward to playing with a new team and in a new country”.
– Back on 2011, you reached the final, but you didn’t manage to win the Euroleague. Do you think now the time has come for you?
“My goal is always to win, no matter where I am, or who I ’m playing for”.
– What do you know about your new team? Do you know personally any of your new teammates?
“Sonny Weems. We had a couple of NBA workouts together, and have had a mutual respect since college”.
– You are 27 years old, which is now the main target? Having a great career in Europe or returning back to the NBA one day with better conditions?
“Having a great career overall”.
– Which player do you consider as the best player in the NBA?
“Lebron James”.
– Which player is the best one playing in Europe?
“Me”.
