One of the names which are expected to be drafted by the NBA this year from Europe is Vasilije Micic. The 20 years old Serbian point guard is expected to leave this summer Mega Vizura, he is arguably the best European player of his age in his position and he is also rumored to be a target of Anadolu Efes, like an other big draft prospect, Dario Saric, who already signed with the team.

As he said to Eurohoops during the Eurocamp at Treviso, no matter what happens in the draft, he would like to stay in Europe for the immediate future: “I played four years in Mega and I think now it’s time for the next level. I don’t want to go… to make a big step in my career. I want to go step by step, because always when I tried to make some big steps, I made mistakes. So I think that my next step will be a something in Europe”.

And who can help him more, than coach Duda Ivkovic of Anadolu Efes? “I like him a lot, because for me he is the best coach in the world and the best coach who worked with me. I would like to be in Efes, but I don’t know yet. I told to my agent that I don’t want to know anything about my next club, before the last game with my national team”.

Micic is often compared to Euroleague legend Thodoris Papaloukas, since they both have the same weak spot, outside shooting. However he is more drawn to an other Greek guard, Dimitris Diamantidis of Panathinaikos: “I work so much on my shooting. My opinion is that you need to create for other players, to make them better and if they can’t make the shot, I get the ball and make the shot. If you can’t shot, specially if you are a point guard, you can’t get to the highest level. It sounds good to be compared with Papaloukas, but my favorite player is Diamantidis and Milos Teodosic”.
