The Israeli company True Player Group (TPG) which is half-owned by David Blatt acquired half of the shares of Czech club BC Brno, making the decorated coach one of the team’s co-owners.

Israeli agent Idan Avshalom is the owner of the other half of the True Player Group. The contact between the two sides was initiated by the Czech national team’s Israeli head coach Ronen Ginzburg. “Brno has a huge potential, a rich history, promising basketball talents and a great coach in the face of Lubomir Ruzicka. I told this to my Israeli friends and I’m glad that they agreed with me,” Ginzburg said per Brno’s website.

“Negotiations have been going on since last autumn and I’m glad that they have now reached a successful end. Our common goal is to gradually make our club a good brand that we will make our fans happy. We also want to bring Brno’s men’s basketball team back to the top of the league,” Brno general manager Michal Jimramovsky said.

Blatt last coached Olympiacos Piraeus in Greece. Throughout his coaching career, he’s won the EuroLeague, EuroCup and EuroChallenge champion on a club level plus the 2007 EuroBasket and the 2012 Olympic Games silver medal with the Russian national team.
