Deni Avdija named Winner League’s Israeli Player of the Year

Maccabi Tel Aviv forward Deni Avdija was named the Israeli Player of the Year of the 2019-2020 Winner League. He also made the All-Winner League Best Five Team.

Avdija, a projected lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 27.1 minutes over 28 games of the Israeli Winner League regular season He had a standout performance in Game 3 of the quarterfinals vs. Hapoel Jerusalem to help his team clinch a spot in the Final Four.

Apart from Avdija, the best Five Team also includes Maccabi Tel Aviv guard Scottie Wilbekin, former Hapoel Tel Aviv and current Levallois Metropolitans forward Tomer Ginat, former Maccabi Rishon and current Galatasaray guard Alex Hamilton and Hapoel Jerusalem guard J’ Covan Brown.

Yam Madar, another Israeli NBA prospect, was named the Most Improved Player of the season after completing 2019-2020 with 9.3 points, 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 21.7 minutes over 29 matches of the regular season. The 19-year-old guard greatly increased his numbers in the playoffs, posting 17.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 31.3 minutes in the best-of-three quarterfinal series vs. Avdija’s Maccabi.

Maccabi Tel Aviv forward Yovel Zoosman is the 2019-2020 Defender of the Year while Hapoel Jerusalem forward/center Suleiman Braimoh was 6th man of the year.
