Maccabi Tel Aviv dropped to a 7-3 record and the second spot in the Israeli league standings

Maccabi Tel Aviv trailed for most of the game against Hapoel Tel Aviv and ultimately paid the price, losing 83-82 to their cross town rivals and for the first time at home this season in their domestic league.

Maccabi entered the last period leading 71-63, but Hapoel came back and got a crucial three-point lead (76-73).

James Young with 26 points led the winners and JP Tokoto added 17 points. For Maccabi, Jalen Reynolds (photo) with 19 points tried his best but it was not enough.

“Today is a bad day for our club, players and management and I want to apologize to our fans,” admitted Macccabi coach Giannis Sfairopoulos.

Hapoel Jerusalem leads the standings in the Israeli league with a 9-2 record, while Maccabi Tel Aviv follows at 7-3.
