Defending State Cup champion Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya exits at the hands of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv

One-sided traffic at the conclusion of Israel’s Migdal State Cup Quarterfinals.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv made short work of last season’s winner Bnei Ofek Dist Herzeliya marching to the win, 105-89, in Menora Mivtachim Arena Monday.

Lorenzo Brown and Rafi Menco shared a team-high of 17 points for the team guided by Oded Kattash. Jake Cohen followed with 15 points. More double-digit scoring contributions from Wade Baldwin IV pouring 13 points, Roman Sorkin with ten points, and Bonzie Colson adding ten more points. Jarell Martin, Darrun Hilliard, and Austin Hollins were sidelined along with Alex Poythress (hand surgery).

Leading the visitors coached by Oren Aharoni, Maurice Kemp logged a game-high 23 points. The experienced power forward also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double in Tel Aviv. Gabe Levin and former Maccabi player Sandy Cohen both scored 14 points in the losing display.

In the next round, the Yellows will face Ironi Hai Motors Ness Ziona. Elad Hasin’s team eliminated Hapoel Altshuler Shaham Beer Sheva/Dimona Saturday. Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Hapoel B-Cure Laser Haifa shaped the other pairing after defeating Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv Sunday and Hapoel Atsmon Holon Saturday, respectively.
