A sixth win in as many Betsafe LKL Regular Season games for Zalgiris.

The Kaunas outfit jumped to 6-0 with a 76-70 victory versus Nevezis-Optibet in Kedainiu Arena on Sunday.

Lukas Lekavicius scoring 16 points in the first quarter was the early boost for the team coached by Kazys Maksvytis. The 29-year-old point guard added two more points in the second quarter. A late three-pointer upped his total to 21 points and made it a three-possession game with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Zalgiris built double-digit separation on multiple occasions but effective defense down the stretch was necessary to seal the deal in Kedainiai. The offense was held to two points over the last three minutes but proved enough for the win.

Lithuanian center Laurynas Birutis chipped in 11 points and eight rebounds. Latvian forward Rolands Smits followed with ten points. Arnas Butkevicius registered six points to go with six rebounds, one steal, and one assist.

Team captain Edgaras Ulanovas was rested. He is expected to return to action against Valencia in Zalgirio Arena with his side seeking a jump to 4-1 on Friday.

With the hosts falling to 0-6 at the top of Lithuania’s top-tier division, Zane Waterman produced a game-high 23 points. Viny Okouo posted a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Later matching Zalgiris at 6-0, Rytas routed 7bet-Lietkabelis, 94-73, in Jeep Arena. Seven players delivered in double-digits with Margiris Normantas, Javin DeLaurier, and Lukas Uleckas sharing a team-high 13 points.
