Braian Angola has officially signed with the Toyama Grouses of Japan’s Resona Group B.League for the upcoming 2026–27 season.
The announcement, made by the club on Sunday, brings the 32-year-old Colombian swingman to East Asia for the first time in his career.
His move comes shortly after he became a free agent following his departure from EuroLeague’s LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.

“I’m very thankful for this opportunity and excited to join the team,” he said regarding the announcement. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the fans and the city, and I can’t wait to get there.”
Angola recently excelled on Europe’s grandest stage during the 2025–26 campaign. Over 15 EuroLeague appearances and 14 starts with ASVEL, he averaged 15.3 points, 3.9 assists, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. His elite performance under pressure was highlighted by earning the EuroLeague Round 30 MVP award. He was equally productive in France’s domestic Betclic Elite league, contributing 12.4 points per game before the conclusion of his contract.
The Villanueva, Colombia native, a 1.98-meter swingman, has constructed a distinguished, nomadic career across the globe. After playing collegiate basketball at North Idaho and Florida State, he initiated his professional journey in the G-League with the Lakeland Magic. He soon moved across the Atlantic, capturing a league championship with Filou Oostende in Belgium and the FIBA Europe Cup with Ironi Ness Ziona.
Throughout his career, Angola has continually proven his value across major leagues. He has suited up for prestigious European clubs, including Partizan Nis, AEK, Galatasaray Nef, Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv, Pinar Karsiyaka, and Dreamland Gran Canaria, while also establishing himself as a regular for the Colombia senior national team.
