Rimas Kurtinaitis is the new head coach of Lietuvos Rytas, as the club officially announced. The Lithuanian coach returns to the team after 2010, succeeding Tomas Pacesas.

Lietuvos Rytas president Gedvydas Vainauskas said that, “I was surprised when I met with Tomas Pacesas on Thursday morning and he told me that he wants to resign. He explained that to me after the elimination from the EuroCup quarterfinals.”

56-year-old Kurtinaitis began the season in Italian Cantu, however he was fired on late November after a series of unsuccessful results. In the past, he had led Lietuvos Rytas to Eurocup trophy (2009) and to winning the Lithuanian league twice (2009, 2010).
