Maccabi Tel Aviv have been in a downward spiral for quite some time and Ironi Nahariya simply added to their woes with a 77 – 64 victory in “Menora Mivtachim”. They still remain second in the standings at 18 – 12, right below first Hapoel Eilat (19 – 11).
The winning squad had taken a 44 – 33 halftime lead but their opponents’ efforts in the third quarter closed that gap to 54 – 61 before the final ten minutes.
Yet Maccabi was forced to only 10 points in the last period and Ironi Nahariya won almost casually to improve its record to 16 – 14.
Tyrone Nash dropped 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, while Scotty Hopson scored 12 and Derwin Kitchen provided in an all-around style of 11 points, 8 rebounds plus 4 assists.
For the “Yellows”, Gal Mekel had 13 points and Devin Smith 11.
