Frederic Forte died suddenly, Sunday (31/1), almost one month before his 48th birthday (January 27) Le Populaire reports.

The president of Limoges since 2004 was found lying dead in his house the evening of the new year’s eve. The exact circumstances of his passing are not yet known.

An international with the French national team, Forte played as a guard and spent seven years of his career with Limoges. He was most famous for a decisive steal he made on Toni Kukoc during the final moments of the 1993 EuroLeague Final, between Limoges and Benetton Treviso. This play helped the French team win its first and only continental championship title.

Among other clubs, Forte also played for such teams as Strasbourg, Avellino, and Iraklis.
