Siauliai’s 20-year-old center Laurynas Birutis led the 2017-2018 Lithuanian League in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounds (7.3 p.g.), blocks (1.3 p.g.) and PIR (20.8 p.g.) and was thus named MVP of the season

The breakout season Laurynas Birutis has had in the Betsafe LKL with Siauliai did not go unnoticed, with the 20-year-old center named the Most Valuable Player of the Regular Season.

On loan from Zalgiris, the rising star flourished back in his hometown under the supervision of coach Antanas Sireika, averaging league-highs with 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

The winner of the award was decided by combining the statistical performances of players (50%) with a voting system, which featured Betsafe LKL clubs (25%) and the administration of the league (25%).

Not only did Birutis top the efficiency leaderboard, but he was also selected as the MVP by 7 of 10 team representatives and was the choice of the league officials as well.

Vyacheslav Bobrov of Pieno Zvaigzdes, Renaldas Seibutis of Neptunas, Brandon Davies of Zalgiris, Martynas Echodas of Lietuvos Rytas, Mindaugas Kupsas of Juventus and Zanis Peiners of Lietkabelis were also in the running of the award.
