Nes Ziona surprises Maccabi and tied the series

Two of the four quarterfinals series in the Israeli Superleague are tied after the first two games.

Nes Ziona really tested Maccabi Tel Aviv in Game 2 of the Israeli Superleague quarterfinals. The hosts were able to force Game 3 as they took down Maccabi in a high scoring game (95-94) tying the series to 1-1.

Nes Ziona’s up-tempo in the first quarter proved difficult for Maccabi to stop as the guests trailing 28-25. Neven Spahija’s team found a way to slow down the hosts in the second period, taking over the lead after the first half (49-45).

The home team stayed close until the end and the score was tied at 92 with only 45 seconds left in the fourth quarter. With the game on the line and the whole season too,  Khalif Wyatt with a huge three gave to Nes Ziona the win.

Daequan Cook paced the game for the hosts with 27 points while Michael Roll tried to save Maccabi with 2o points.

Earlier, Hapoel Tel Aviv was able to tie the series against Maccabi Ashdod up to 1-1 after taking an easy win at home 98-77.
