Zalgiris Kaunas became the Lithuanian League champion for the 8th time in a row (20th trophy overall) after recording an 80-70 home victory against Lietuvos Rytas in Game 5 and winning the Finals series 4-1.

It was a balanced game with many shifts in the lead as no team could gain a significant advantage and a duel between two players took the spotlight. Brandon Davies scored game-high 29 points while adding eight rebounds and outscored the opposing Loukas Mavrokefalidis who led Rytas with 20 points.

Despite trailing by a three-point margin at halftime (39-36), Zalgiris gained the momentum after the break and turned the situation around. It seemed as though it could either way with five minutes remaining when the hosts had a minimal lead (65-64) but they took over completely from that moment onwards creating a 15-4 run and securing the game and the trophy.

Davies got some help from Kevin Pangos and Beno Udrih who added ten points each. Rytas, on the other side, didn’t have any double-digit scorers except Mavrokefalidis but the closest to it was Martynas Echodas with nine points.
