Crvena Zvezda might have been a favorite for the Korac Cup final vs. Partizan, though the latter team was the one that stepped on the podium with the trophy, thanks to a pair of free throws by Landale in the final second.
This decision of the referees agitated Crvena Zvezda‘s board, and President Covic expressed his complaints:
“We got robbed. It reminds me of times when we all know what was going on in Serbian basketball. The referees acted in a wicked manner towards Zvezda. A pure defense turned into a foul and a pair of free throws that decided the outcome. I ask for the State to investigate what happens in Serbian basketball and to protect the sport from sweeps like this. We got robbed by Partizan and I will never congratulate someone who steals a victory”, commented Covic.
After the end of the final, Crvena Zvezda skipped the awarding ceremony as a means to protest to the final call of the game.
