Travis Diener stepped up for Golden Eagles and pushed them to a 68-62 win over Team Hines and to the TBT Final where they will fight for the two million dollars prize.
The 37-year-old veteran guard nailed two shots from deep during the ‘Elam Ending’ including the game-winning one and those were his only points (six) in the game.
Elgin Cook had a strong double-double performance for Eagles with 21 points and 13 rebounds while for Team Hines, Kyle Hines logged 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Matt Lojeski added 11 points.
Eagles will face David Lighty and Carmen’s Crew in the Final who made a historic feat as they beat four-time champions Overseas Elite 71-66 handing them their first-ever loss in the tournament after 29 straight wins.
Lighty scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half and was also the one to bank the game-winner after picking up a loose ball. William Bufford added 15 in addition to Jeff Gibbs’ 12 and Jon Diebler‘s ten points.
Jeremy Pargo logged 17 points for the losing side while Dominique Archie helped with ten points.
