After four straight seasons with Overseas Elite taking home the prize, Carmen’s Crew won two million dollars on Tuesday night at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena by defeating the Golden Eagles, 66-60, in the 2019 The Basketball Tournament final.

The sixth edition of TBT featured 64 teams including Team Hines and Overseas Elite, two sides featuring various players with vast European basketball experience. However, David Lighty of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne was in the final and the leading scorer of the winning side.

The 31-year-old American guard, Ohio State alumni, went for 17 points with 5/11 from the field in 32:57, also notched 7 rebounds and 4 assists. William Buford, also an European baller, followed with 14 points. Elgin Cook, former Cedevita and MHP Riesen Ludwigburg forward, posted 17 points for the losing team.

Buford earned MVP honors and was named in the TBT All-Tournament team. Dwight Buycks, Aaron Craft, D.J. Kennedy and Jaylen Barford rounded up the field.
