After today’s news in France, it seems unlikely for the French championship to resume

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

While in theory, the French basketball league is not canceled yet, it seems unlikely for the championship to resume after Monday’s address of Emmanuel Macron.

The President of the French Republic announced that no public event would take place in France before mid-July and the borders with the United States are closed until further notice.

All the stakeholders in French basketball so far agree that there’s no point for the Jeep Elite championship to return to action without fans in the gyms, plus many US players have returned to their country.

The league committee will meet by the end of April, however, in light of those announcements, it seems highly unlikely for any professional French league to return to action, including the second basketball division. The rest of the basketball competitions, including the women’s professional basketball league, have already canceled their season.
