Action has resumed in France this week amid rumors of a shutdown due to coronavirus cases that keep increasing among teams.

The bulk of the games of Day 5 in the French Jeep Elite League took place Saturday (17/10)  with some powerhouses getting impressive wins over their opponents.

Roanne – Cholet 96 – 88 

Sylvain Francisco had 27 points and six assists to lead Roanne to the first win of the season. Cholet (Kylon Davenport 20 points, nine rebounds) lost the game but the most serious blow came the next day when several members of the team tested positive for coronavirus, including head coach Erman Kunter.

Nanterre – Strasbourg 89 – 80 

Nanterre was trailing 66 – 71 early in the fourth period but made the comeback to defeat Strasbourg behind 21 points by Chris Warren plus 17 points by Isaia Cordinier.

Brandon Jefferson had 16 points and six rebounds while Bonzie Colson dropped 15 points for Strasbourg.

AS Monaco – Elan Chalon 90 – 60 

With six players scoring in double figures, Monaco made a display of strength vs. Chalon at home. Marcos Knight (17 points), Dee Bost (14 points) and Damian Inglis (14 points) led a balanced Monaco offense.

Rafi Menco (15 points, six rebounds) and Myles Hesson (14 points) were Chalon’s top scorers.

JDA Dijon – Pau Orthez 87 – 71 

Dijon put on a superb performance on both ends to down Orthez at home. Chase Simon and Hans Vanjwin led the way with 19 and 18 points respectively with the latter adding five dimes.

Shannon Evans stood out from Chalon with 20 points plus seven assists.

Orleans – Chalons Reims 99 – 79 

Luke Fischer (22 points) and LaMonte Ulmer (21, five rebounds) formed a powerful duo that pushed Orleans past Chalons Reims and the 2-2. The latter remain winless in the French League this season despite the efforts of Jalen Adams (31 points).

Boulazac – Le Portel 70 – 71 

Boris Dallo just had seven points in the game of Le Portel vs. Boulazac but three of them made the go-ahead triple with a minute left that ultimately gave the win to the guests. Charles-Noé Abouo overall led Le Portel with 19 points and six rebounds.

Edgar Sosa scored 19 and Kevin Harley 14 for Boulazac.
