Undermanned AS Monaco falls at Strasbourg’s Rhenus Sport

John Roberson poured 23 points as SIG Strasbourg defeated AS Monaco, 99-90, Sunday.

Roberson, 33, was coming off a key contribution of 28 points behind 6/8 triples in the away win against Kalev/Cramo Tuesday. His side went from booking a spot in the Basketball Champions League Play-In Round to jumping to 7-3 and forcing La Roca Team down to 8-3 in the Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Regular Season standings.

The former Texas Tech standout made 4/11 three-pointers and dished out seven assists in the Round 11 fixture. Matt Mitchell added 16 points, Leopold Cavaliere had 14 points, and Jaromir Bohacik ended up with 13 points.

Lassi Tuovi’s side led throughout the entire second half with the largest distance marked at 17 points.

Montenegrin Zvezdan Mitrovic missed Dwayne Bacon, Leo Westermann, Will Thomas, Jerry Boutsiele, Rob Gray, and Mike James. Among the players available, Danilo Andjusic and Paris Lee shared the team-high 16 points.

Coming up for the losing side, the next Turkish Airlines EuroLeague double-game week. Monaco, currently tied with Fenerbahce Beko, ALBA Berlin, and Bitci Baskonia in 13th place at 5-9, will take on Zalgiris Kaunas on the road and Zenit Saint Petersburg at home, Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

In the French League table, the team coached by Mitrovic is now two games behind the leader, Metropolitans 92 carrying a 10-1 record. Further down, Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Le Mans are together at 7-4, while LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne currently ranks sixth on a 7-5 W-L tally.
