The French league playoffs have been full of excitement and unexpected results and the most recent play was no different. One team sealed a spot in the semifinals and they did it after eliminating the higher seed while Monaco managed to survive an overtime clash against Strasbourg.

Strasbourg (7th seed) had a very nice chance to win the series against Monaco (2nd seed) but the latter forced overtime thanks to Mike James and Will Thomas’s combo that ended with a dunk.

They rode the momentum in overtime and although Strasbourg made a remarkable comeback to tie the game, Monaco grabbed a 97-95 road win with James banking in the game-winner in the final seconds.

James was on fire in crunch time and finished with 30 points while Thomas scored 20 and Alpha Diallo 16 points. For Strasbourg, John Roberson logged 25 and Amine Noua 17 points.

Meanwhile, Pau-Orthez (6th seed) got the job done as well and won the series against Levallois (3rd seed) 2-0 with an 81-71 victory at home.

Brandon Jefferson was extraordinary with 28 points including six three-pointers while Jeremy Leloup stepped up as well with 21 points (5-9 from deep). Vincent Hunter scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the eliminated side.
