Victor Wembanyama had a 23-10 double-double plus 3 blocks in the first game of the season for the French top division, called “Betclic Elite”, but couldn’t lead Metropolitans 92 to the road win over Gravelines-Dunkerque.

The hosts prevailed by 12 points (85-73), however, the number 1 NBA prospect in the world delivered, while playing in a system built around him.

Under French national team coach Vincent Collet, Wembanyama stayed on the court for 30 minutes and had 11/23 FG, including 1/6 threes, while seven of his rebounds were offensive. In general, his team had an off-shooting day with a total of 5/18 threes.

However, the young big man proved once again that he is a generational talent.

Hugo Besson, the 58th pick by the Pacers in the recent draft, added 11 points, as did DeVante Jones. For the winning side, Justin Robinson led the charge with 18 points.

In the other two games played on Friday for the first round, Blois beat Roanne on the road 94-90 (Yannis Morin 19 p. – Jaime Smith 15 p.) and Dijon got the 87-76 win over Le Portel (Chase Simon 17 p. – Emmanuel Nzekwesi 17 p.).
