A collapse in the last ten minutes leads Victor Wembanyama and Metropolitans 92 to defeat, 78-77, against ESSM Le Portel in Le Chaudron.

Wembanyama, 19, registered a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double to go with four blocks and two assists over 36 minutes.

The promising upstart, the frontrunner to be selected with the first pick of the 2023 NBA draft connected 7/16 from the field, including a spectacular dunk to end the first half of France’s Betclic Elite LNB Pro A Regular Season Round 25 contest.

Despite the latest solid display of Wembanyama and Tremont Waters producing a game-high 22 points, the team coached by Vincent Collet failed to protect a 13-point advantage during the fourth period. The Mets were forced down to 17-8 with a second loss in a row. Experienced guard and team captain Benoit Mangin with 21 points paved the way for the hosts to improve to 10-15.

Elsewhere in France’s top division showcased a high-scoring affair held in Halle Andre Vacheresse as Roanne overpowered Le Mans, 105-92. Ronald March had 33 points for the winning side. Matt Morgan pilled up 36 points but to no avail.
