Nearly 1.2 million spectators filled the gyms of Betclic ELITE during the regular season, thus setting a new record for the elite of French professional basketball.
The average attendance in Betclic ELITE at the end of the regular season amounts to 3,910 spectators per match, thus representing a historic record in terms of attendance in the arenas. In addition, the SLUC Nancy Basket club, with an average of 5,829 spectators per game over the season, sets the new average attendance record for a club over a season in the LNB championships.
These historical numbers to Betclic ELITE stand are also reflected in the average fill rate: 87%, the best fill rate in the history of the elite of French professional basketball, higher over the 2017-18 season which amounted to 83%.
In the second round of this 2022-2023 season, the average filling rate even rose to 89% (compared to 84% on the first leg).
In addition, the clubs recorded 117 sold-out tickets in the regular season (out of 306 matches, or more than one match in three). The Metropolitans 92 and the French phenomenon Victor Wembanyama experienced exceptional enthusiasm throughout the territory: 25 games sold out of 34.
The new record attendance in France for a basketball match in the regular season was also set during the 2022-2023 season: a record number of 16,319 spectators was present during the Nanterre 92 – LDLC ASVEL match played in Paris La Defense Arena last March. Nanterre 92 thus beats the previous record dating from 2018 (15,220 spectators), also achieved by the same club.
The Metropolitans 92 – JL Bourg Basket (14,397 spectators) and Paris Basketball – LDLC ASVEL (11,277 spectators) meetings, relocated to the Paris Accor Arena, complete the TOP 3 attendances for this regular season 2022-2023.
