Kevin Durant is visiting Monaco to watch his friend and former teammate Mike James play in the French League playoffs but it was another player who probably caught his attention more in the between La Roca team JL Bourg en Bresse
Donatas Motiejunas scored 20 points on 9-10 shots and got five rebounds in 22:28 to lead AS Monaco past Bourg 96 – 79 in Game 1 of the semifinals and begin the series on a high note.
Elie Okobo contributed 13 points while James and Jordan Loyd scored 12 apiece for Monaco. Sasa Obradovic‘s team was superior from start to finish and had a particularly dominant 29 – 16 stretch in the second period to build a solid 48 – 32 lead at halftime.
Bourg couldn’t really contain the Monaco offense and fell behind 57 – 36 late in the third quarter, never to recover. James Palmer scored 19 points and Hugo Benitez added 10 points for Bourg.
Game 2 takes place in Monaco Wednesday (31/5).
