Tuomas Iisalo’s team defeats ASVEL at home to move to second spot in LNB Pro A standings

Paris means business! The BKT EuroCup Group A leader moved to the second spot in the BetClic ELITE standings, defeating ASVEL in the Round 15 derby 92-86.

Tuomas Iisalo’s side improved to 11-4, with a game short of the now third-placed Villeurbanne team, which fell to 11-5.

The hosts dominated throughout the second and third quarters, even leading 67-47 at one moment, but Gianmarco Pozzecco’s team turned the score around at the start of the final period. The teams went back and forth, but Paris grabbed control with a 7-0 run to record a big win at Halle Georges Carpentier.

Tyson Ward led the scoring for the winning side with 20 points, but it was T.J. Shorts who stole the show with a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists. Nadir Hifi followed the duo with 16 points, while Collin Malcolm added 10 points.

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot led ASVEL with 17 points and seven boards, while Joffrey Lauvergne scored 13 points. Charles Kahudi was on the verge of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, as well as Youssoupha Fall, who had 11 points and eight boards. Edwin Jackson also scored 11 points.

Monaco sits comfortably at the top of the LNB Pro A standings, after recording its 14th win, defeating Le Portel 67-74.

Mike James was rested, and Elie Okobo topped the scoring charts with 16 points, while Alpha Diallo with 13 and Matthew Strazel with 12 points followed.
