Mike James scored 28 points over just 15 minutes in an 82 – 69 French League win for AS Monaco over Chalon/Saone. The reigning champions improved their near-impeccable record to 19-1 while their opponents dropped to 8-13.
Elie Okobo added 24 points plus five assists for a Monaco team that entered the game strong to go up 24 – 19 in the first period and closed halftime ahead 46 – 33. James was unstoppable in that first half with 24 points to help his team build that double-digit margin.
Chalon put up a bigger fight in the second half but Monaco never allowed them to become dangerous. Aleksej Nikolic (19 points) and Ryan Mikesell (18 points) paced the losing side.
Monaco will now be preparing for a double-game EuroLeague week that includes two matches at home vs. Partizan Belgrade (31/1) and Fenerbahce Beko (2/2). Sasa Obradovic‘s side is 13-10 after registering two straight wins over Real Madrid and Anadolu Efes.
