The reigning champs in France were eliminated from playoffs this year. After being defeated by Monaco (24-7) at home, Limoges (16-15) lost all chances to defend its title while the Monegasques confirmed their status as perhaps the best team of the regular season and showed why they are at the first place of the standings.

Despite their opponents’ great start and although they fell behind the score 37 – 47 at the start of the first half, coach Vujosevic players fought back in the third quarter to balance the situation. They even gained the lead 60 – 58 in the beginning of the fourth, but the Leaders Cup holders haven’t said their final word. By making an impressive 0 – 11 run, Monaco got ahead of the score 60 – 69, never looking back until the end of the match.

Billy Yakuba Ouattara was the best player of Monaco with 18 points and 6 rebounds. For Limoges, Leo Westermann finished the game with 16 points and 5 assists.

With an impressive offensive output, third in the standings Le Mans (21-10) defeated fifth Chalon Saone (20-11), while Nanterre (19-12) entered the playoffs zone by destroying Le Havre (2-29).
