The superior offensive force of Monaco won the day against ASVEL and kept them at a serious distance from all other teams in the French League standings.

Monaco improved its record to 23 – 3 and remained the absolute boss in the French League by downing reigning champs Villeurbanne 92 – 88 in a perhaps more comfortable fashion that what the final score implies.

Thanks to an unstoppable Nik Caner-Medley (28 points), the Monegasques were leading by 14 points, 79 – 65 with seven minutes remaining in the game. ASVEL made a big effort to try to come back but never made it a one-possession game.

ASVEL is now tied at 13 – 3 on the eighth place of the standings with Le Portel that took quite the road victory over Orthez. The team from Pau fell to the third place where it sits next to Nanterre at a 18 – 8 record while Chalon/Saone is now alone at the second spot with a 19/7 win/loss ratio.
