Le Portel improved to a 7-9 record in a French Pro A League after beating Gravelines Dunkerque 63-55 on the road. It was an amazing comeback victory for Le Portel as they allowed the hosts to score only two points in the last 15 minutes of action.
After the third quarter, it looked like the home team will record an easy victory. They were up by 16 after 30 minutes of action (53-37).
However, the things turned upside down in the last period.
The visitors made an incredible run down the last stretch (18-2). The teams were tied at 55-55 with 20 seconds left on the clock and the guests had the ball. They couldn’t score and the game went into the overtime. In the extra five minutes, Gravelines again couldn’t crack Le Portel’s defense and they remained scoreless in that period. Frank Hassell was carrying the visitors with 16 points.
With this loss, Gravelines falls to an 8-8 record.
On Saturday Le Mans grabbed a win against Chalons Reims at home 90-84 thanks to Youssoupha Fall.
